Acclaimed composer John Warren, known for his collaborations with the likes of Kenny Wheeler and John Surman, brings a nine piece to the Vortex comprised of some of the finest young jazz musicians in the U.K.
The group will play “AwhereAbout”, a suite composed by John for the Jazz Nursery that is being played live for only the second time. It was inspired by First Nation legends from John’s native Canada. The Nonet will also play arrangements of John’s work drawn from his wider repertoire as documented on CDs such as ‘Finally Beginning’ and ‘Following On’.
This is the Vortex’s first event with the Jazz Nursery, an exciting new voice in jazz programming who have been creating a stage for the best up and coming players of jazz and improvised music in London.
