ICHI + THESE FEATHERS HAVE PLUMES

ICHI

“What on earth is this, it`s brilliant!” Steve Lamacq
“Hilarious, bonkers and brilliant”! Lauren Lavern
‘Steel drums, maraca adorned converse, typewriters and ping pong balls all find musical homes during ICHI’s extremely well received set, as the Nagoya native brings his childlike, playful yet intricate melody making ways to Sherwood Forest’ – THE LINE OF BEST FIT

ICHI, from Nagoya in Japan, takes the notion of a one-man band to new limits, combining his quirky handmade instrument inventions with steel-drum, ping-pong balls, toys, tape-loops, xylophone, double bass and trumpet, all in the space of one short set. Somehow there’s an ancient, ritualistic feel to his performances – he’s like the misplaced leader of a tribe. To see ICHI live is to witness something so playful and unusual you know that you’re experiencing something entirely new. It`s fun, it`s danceable, it`s exciting.

He is championed by the likes of DAVID BYRNE, BBC 6 Music’s TOM ROBINSON and LAUREN LAVERNE, and DEERHOOF, who invited him to play with them in New York at their event The Wordless Music Series.

THESE FEATHERS HAVE PLUMES

Andie Brown began working under the name These Feathers Have Plumes in 2007, using traditional and non-traditional instrumentation and field recordings to build multi layered soundscapes. Her debut release soon came through New York label Period Tapes and in 2010 followed the full-length release of Corvidae on Tartaruga.

Currently working with glass, her live performances have become increasingly atmospheric and immersive, incorporating field recordings, found sound and spoken word dialogue.

Andie also collaborates frequently with other musicians and has taken her shows throughout the UK and mainland Europe.
