Two duos with a passion for found sounds, live electronics and traditional instruments – and both with debut albums set to release this year. London/Oslo-based duo BirdWorld is a musical partnership between Gregor Riddell and Adam Teixeira. With a simple acoustic instrumental set-up alongside electronically manipulated field recordings and a variety of traditional percussion including numerous kalimbas, the duo weaves between ambient electronic, contemporary classical, world music and jazz improvisation creating soundscapes both natural and otherworldly. Since meeting during their Banff Centre Creative Residencies, the duo has gone on to perform across Europe with highlights including a Union Chapel concert filmed and recorded by NTS Radio, and an electronic film score commissioned by London Contemporary Orchestra. Crewdson & Cevanne create an extraordinary sonic world by spinning together electronics and folk, blending their voices with harp and found sounds played on their DIY electronic instruments. They met live on air for London’s Resonance FM. Jumping straight into an improvised broadcast, a new project was born. Crewdson is known for his electronic musical inventions and Cevanne is an award-winning contemporary composer. Together, they create a modern approach to British song which straddles the traditional and avant-garde.
