We seem to have more recordings than ever. But too many? There is more recorded music around than ever. Is that because we have more musicians with something to say? Should these recordings be made live or in studios?
It’s possible that the pandemic led to the need for this outlet, because we didn’t have the live music opportunities. The advent of Bandcamp as a direct means of musicians doing it themselves too has eased the process. But is it overall good for the music?
That’s our discussion topic for this week, led by Oliver Weindling, Vortex director and founder of Babel Label, which has been the home of great recordings for f the likes of Polar Bear, Emilia Martensson, Christine Tobin and more. Open to all.
