About
Queer Jazz exists to platform, nurture and celebrate the emerging queer jazz scene. Programmed by Tina Edwards and Arowah, they have put together an exciting monthly programme of innovative LGBTQI+ artists at The Vortex Jazz Club, supported by Arts Council England.
Tickets are flexibly priced – please select the pricing tier that reflects your situation. We want as many people as possible to access the gigs so if you’re able to, please consider paying for the highest ticket band, otherwise cheaper tickets will be limited and available on first-come first-serve basis.
KNOBIL: Double bassist, singer and composer Louise Knobil invites you to dive into their world, where jazz, punk, glitter and French chanson merge with sparkling, audacious energy. Inspired by such icons as Esperanza Spalding, Charles Mingus and Boris Vian, this rising star of Swiss jazz transforms their personal diary into an original musical adventure. Polyamory, Queer joy and pesto recipes come together in compositions that are both personal and universal. Their impertinent melodies, combining double bass and vocals, fly high in intensity thanks to the talent of their faithful ‘knodisciples’: Chloé Marsigny on bass clarinet and effects, and Vincent Andreae on drums.
Leo Lore: Offering solace whilst wearing his heart on his sleeve, Leo Lore blends old-skool sounds with his raw, but soothing vocals, resting innately amongst soul, jazz, blues and folk, creating a sound that is both classic, yet future-facing. Having released his debut EP ‘Blue Print’ back in 2022, which gained critical acclaim from the likes of Clash, The Pit Ldn, and Haste Magazine, as well as support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing, Leo sets himself firmly as 1-to-watch in the UK music scene.
