Flautist and composer Eddie Parker has been an important name in UK Jazz for many years – his work as a founding member of and an important composer for Loose Tubes, as well as his work with the ‘Bheki Mseleku Band’ and Django Bates’ ‘Delightful Precipice’ has cemented his place in UK Jazz history – but now he is launching a very special set of new material for a new all-star UK band featuring fellow former Loose-Tubes members John Paricelli on guitar and Steve Watts on bass, new recruit Kit Downes on piano, and long-time collaborators Julian Nicholas on saxophone and Mike Pickering on drums.
Taking in music from South Africa (where Eddie has recently guested with rising star Afrika Mkhize), English folk music mixed with French Impressionism, and the great jazz tradition, all combined with beautiful melodies and exciting grooves – this is new music that is both detailed and accessible; with Eddie’s return to the live circuit he is already creating a buzz among jazz fans and aficionados alike.
