Tonight is the launch of new album ‘I Bought a Bike’ on Chamber Records, featuring Jac Jones sax, Will Butterworth piano, and Nick Pini on bass.
A Priori are a band of London improvisors that have developed a unique way of playing over a two year period through a process of playing freely improvised music and also the thorough mining of the standard repertoire. They improvise with the aim of re-interpreting forms without any previous discussion of tempo key or structure, but instead trying to rely on collective instinct to guide the music.
Will Butterworth
Will has worked with many of Britain’s finest musicians, and has released two albums as leader (music chamber records). He is also one half of the ‘Dylan Howe/Will Butterworth’ duo, which has achieved great critical acclaim.
Jac Jones
Jac is also an active composer and arranger and writes music for various jazz groups and larger ensembles. He has been commissioned by the PRS Foundation for New Music, writing original compositions for drum kit and orchestra (London Breakbeat Orchestra) recorded for the BBC at their Maida Vale studios and broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Asian network. These compositions have also been performed in Trafalgar Square as part of the Festival of Youth Arts, at Rhythms Of The World Festivals, At Koko (Camden palace), Cargo, Q club (Birmingham) and various other music venues around the country.
Nick Pini
Double bass player Nick Pini plays with a wealth of musicians.
