Trumpeter Alexandra Ridout has received many awards and accolades, most recently: USA Laurie Frink Career Grant 2022, ‘Best Soloist’ at the ‘Keep an Eye International Jazz Awards 2023. She is also a finalist for the upcoming prestigious Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition 2023.
Alexandra’s exquisite playing is sought out by many revered international musicians. Recent highlights include: European dates with Renee Rosnes’ Blue Note signed band ‘Artemis’; Featuring with celebrated pianist Pablo Held in Cologne, with Orlando Le Fleming’s ‘Romantic Funk’ in Paris and London, with Dayna Stephen’s ‘Custom Deluxe’ at The Jazz Gallery NYC, or NYC performances with Jochen Rueckert.
Alex can regularly be heard on Sunday evenings at New York’s famous ‘Birdland’ Jazz Club with Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.
Alex has performed extensively with her own ensembles (trio, quartet and quintet) both in the UK and New York and with many incredible UK musicians including, Alex Hitchcock’s Quintet, Paul Booth’s Quintet, Clark Tracey’s Quintet, Yazz Ahmed’s Polyhymnia, Zoe Rahman Octet and ECM artist Kit Downes.
Alexandra recorded her debut album in late 2021, due to be released soon. She also released an EP on Bandcamp ‘Remote Duets’ recorded in lockdown, featuring her composing and arranging for trumpet and guitar.
Currently based in New York, Alex can be heard in Jazz clubs and festivals in New York, the UK and Europe.
