Acclaimed Italian pianist and composer Antonio Zambrini returns to the Vortex. Hopefully the programme will include some of his creative take on some of the most iconic film soundtracks of the Italian neorealism by Nino Rota, such as hit last time he came in, especially as his playing is characterised by his strong understanding of melody.
He is joined by bassist Andrea di Biase, and drummer Antonio Fusco, known here particularly for his work in the Bilbo trio with Bruno Heinen and Henrik Jensen.
It shows the respect that Zambrini is held in by his colleagues that John Law has dedicated an album to him, and Stefano Bollani used one of his tunes to open an album that he presented on ECM.
