This is the debut gig of ‘Baku Baku’, the latest project from pianist/composer Rick Simpson, featuring Simpson on synths and piano, Adam King on electric and synth bass and Jay Davis on drums. Here Simpson turns his attention to presenting music eschewing soloists and instead focussing on melody and song like compositions. Whether serene or explosive, Baku Baku is direct, accessible and a love letter to the art of the song.
