“Rock fossils? –
As a distraction from current world mayhem, I dug deep into the past by way of a dusty, unlabelled box, crammed full of old negatives and there found some treasure I believed to be long gone.
The Scottish Campaign to Resist the Atomic Menace provided a reminder that all was not halcyon back in the seventies but the last pile transported me back to May 1980 and to my amazement, the images I shot for an Undertones Smash Hits Cover Feature. This was my first job when I arrived in London. Ian Cranna, the new editor who had commissioned regular work from me for Edinburgh’s City Lynx magazine and as a stringer for NME, Melody Maker and other music press, sent me ‘back home’ to Edinburgh the very day after my arrival there.
I’m having an Undertones book launch Nov 10th and would love you and your lovely chums to come along to The Vortex where I plan to show pics by digital projector and also to project images on to the downstairs windows, transforming that dusty box into something sparkling and bejewelled!
