Part of the EFG London Jazz Festival
Bruno Heinen Quintet presents Tierkreis (Stockhausen’s Signs of the Zodiac) plus a pre-concert talk hosted by Max Reinhardt.
The Bruno Heinen Quintet features some of the top musicians in the country; Fulvio Sigurta on trumpet, Andrea Di Biase on bass, George Crowley (saxophone), and Jon Scott on drums. The group will be playing Bruno’s re-working of one twelve movement piece by Karlheinz Stockhausen. ‘Tierkreis’ was originally written for twelve music boxes, four of which have been in Bruno’s family since he was born, and are used in the performance.
BBC Radio 3’s Max Reinhardt will start the event with a talk about the background to the album, joined by violinist Jacqueline Ross who worked with Stockhausen at the Darmstadt festival in the 1970s.
