Sudden Amusements
Sudden Amusements is part composition, part improvisation and part chance where software algorithms occasionally dictate the performance direction. Comprising of Chris Dowding on brass and electronics and Oliver Payne on prepared field recordings and live processing.
Oliver is primarily a guitarist, sound designer and installation artist. Interested in capturing the typically inaudible voices in natural environments he often uses alternative methods to capture sounds such as geophones, inductor coils and hydrophones. His work has been featured in recording and installations throughout Europe, most recently contributing to the VacuaMoenia project, INNERSCAPE which focuses on imperceptible soundscapes.
