Double Trouble: Peter Ehwald (sax), Robert Landfermann (bass), Andreas Lang (bass), Jonas Burgwinkel (drums)
Berlin-based Peter Ehwald fuses the approach of London, where he lived and studied, allowing the creation of the Paragon Trio, with the underground pulse of Berlin. The power and strength of the two basses brings something special, grounded by Andreas Lang but with Robert Landfermann allowed to soar as an improviser. Meanwhile Jonas Burgwinkel, long-time collaborator with Landfermann in the trio of pianist Pablo Held, shows why he is such an in-demand player. Peter has just returned from a period as artist-in-residence in Seoul, Korea. Let’s see what that has done to his playing…..
Kit Downes, one of the most influential pianists of the new generation here, got to know Robert Landfermann when his trio worked together with that of the German award-winning trio of Pablo Held. Robert is one of the most in-demand German players of the new generation, already a winner of the prestigious WDR Jazz Prize. Their previous performance at the club in January is still being talked about as one of the performances of the year.
