About

Award-winning saxophonist and composer Ed Jones returns to the quartet format that first established his presence on the UK jazz scene over 30 years ago. Formed in 2011, this collective initially drew inspiration from the music of Wayne Shorter, but over time, it has evolved into a dynamic ensemble where original compositions by Jones and bassist Riaan Vosloo take centre stage, supported by the creative collaborations of pianist Ross Stanley and drummer Tim Giles. Through extensive touring, the quartet has forged a unique collective sound blending fiercely driven intense” fire music” with atmospheric, improvisational soundscapes. This shines through in both their strikingly original works and their innovative interpretations of the American songbook. This evening they will be joined by the wonderful talents of Pianist/Composer Rebecca Nash

“A formidable saxophonist. Ed Jones may have hit his highest profile through his work with bands US3 and Incognito, but he’s an improviser to his fingertips, a player of forceful imagination, and one of the UK’s most distinctive saxophonists.” John Fordham The Guardian.

For Best Gigs of the Year Ed Jones at Lauderdale House-with all the swagger and sound of Rollins in his prime (with Ross Stanley, Riaan Vosloo and Tim Giles) – came close to choose for Musician/Band of the Year.” LondonJazzNews.com

The Vigorous, sometimes downright volcanic tenor sound of Ed Jones has long been one of the great live delights of British Jazz. His barnstorming ‘terrier with a rat’ approach raises the music’s temperature whenever he solos” Chris Parker, Jazzwise.

“Risk-taking arrangements and compositions, seriously engaging territory”  Tom Barlow, Jazzwise
