The Elchin Shirinov Trio is an exciting new project interweaving forward looking arrangements of traditional Azerbijani music and brand new compositions. The band was initiated by the acclaimed Azerbaijani pianist and composer Elchin Shirinov.
His aim was to find creative and versatile musicians who could adapt to a wide spectrum of ideas: from folk inspired melodies to the most modern concepts of jazz improvisation. The choice fell on the Italian-born London-based bassist Andrea Di Biase with his varied set of past experiences in classical, jazz and folk music; and on British drummer Dave Hamblett with his exciting rhythmic creativity and his thoughtful taste.
Even though the trio has only been active for two years, they have already had the opportunity to play in many renown festivals and clubs across the world such as Sunside Jazz club in Paris, Palmengarten Hall in Frankfurt, Mugam Centre in Baku and many other venues in Moscow, Cannes, Athens, Budapest and Naples. The trio played at the Jazzahead event in Bremen this year. The trio has also recently recorded their first album, soon to be released.
