Since 2004, these young musicians have impressed audiences with a rare spirit and maturity. Critics in France have been quick to champion them too, bestowing accolades & awards including ‘Revelation of the year’ in 2009, and ‘Best jazz artist of the year in 2012 and 2013’.
Musically, the group offer an intense exploration of familiar trends; from Coltrane and Wayne Shorter to Steve Lacy, Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor, by way of Hector Berlioz, Igor Stravinsky and Arnold Schoenberg.

Alexander Hawkins is a composer, pianist, organist, and bandleader who is ‘unlike anything else in modern creative music’ (Ni Kantu) and whose recent work has reached a ‘dazzling new apex’ (Downbeat). Self-taught, he works in a vast array of creative contexts. His own highly distinctive soundworld is forged through the search to reconcile both his love of free improvisation and profound fascination with composition and structure.
