About
One of Emma’s newest line-ups come to the Vortex fresh from recording at Maida Vale Studios and broadcasts on BBC Radio. Having already demonstrated her prowess as a writer for her Jazz Orchestra and quartet, Emma has turned her attention to writing for string quartet and piano and is relishing the challenge!
We can expect a fantastic programme of music featuring a stellar group of musicians. The brilliant Elliot Galvin joins Emma and the string quartet; Elliot is currently touring extensively promoting his latest album ‘The Ruin’ and is also often found playing internationally with bands led by heavyweight musicians as Marius Neset, Laura Jurd and more.
The String quartet brings together a group of in-demand musicians from a wide range of musical circles. Violinist Dominic Ingham brings his distinctive voice to the ensemble, known for his high energy yet subtly emotional playing. He is joined in the string section by Jenny Clare on violin, an accomplished instrumentalist already in demand in classical circles. Abby Bowen plays viola in the quartet, a first choice violist of Ella Hohnen Ford, and finally Cubby Howard completes the set, a fine young cellist and improviser currently studying on the jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama amongst his busy schedule as a sideman in a variety of projects.
