Filipe Sousa is a Portuguese pianist/composer and workshop leader based in the UK. He works with artists and communities of ranging age, ability and background. He founded Quest Ensemble and has been commissioned to create sound installations and to write for music ensembles, film and dance.

Fran and Flora

This new collaboration between violinist Flora Curzon and folk/experimental cellist Francesca Ter-Berg combines aspects of traditional string music from Eastern Europe with original compositions and experimental electronics. Having performed with Talvin Singh, Sam Lee, Hejira, Floating Points, Jocelyn Pook, Dunajska Kapelye and the London Klezmer Quartet, this project brings together Fran and Flora’s shared love of melodic lyricism, groove, improvisation and experimentation. Influenced by Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Celtic and Breton folk and gypsy music, Fran and Flora combine these traditions with their own unique arrangement style to create a sound that is both timeless and contemporary. Their album will be released on Lima Limo Records in 2017.
