About
On tour throughout the UK with his debut album, trumpeter Hugh Pascall brings his quartet to the Vortex for the final gig of the tour and to celebrate the album launch.
A trumpeter who studied jazz at the Royal Academy of Music and the Paris Conservatoire, he’s been on the UK scene predominantly as a sideman since graduating in 2006, recording and performing with a variety of projects (Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, E17 Large Ensemble, the Dave Ferris Septet and New York’s The Last Poets). He’s currently also playing with Tony Kofi’s Inside Straight with Dennis Rollins and Aidan Pope’s Octet.
His influences in writing for this band include iconic greats Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane among many others. An exciting and lush sound world, and a modern approach to post-bop jazz.
