Aquarium is led by pianist and composer Sam Leak, described by Jazz FM as ‘one of the brightest young stars in the jazz piano galaxy, a heavenly improviser and a brilliant prospect for the future.’
‘This is assured and sophisticated acoustic jazz with deep roots in the tradition, that knows exactly what it is trying to do – and succeeds.’ (Daniel Spicer, BBC Music Magazine)
Their two albums have received a glowing reception from the UK press and in 2012 their eponymous debut album was listed as one of the year’s top 10 international releases (MOJO).

Kristian Borring
With two albums under his own name, and a new duo with Bruno Heinen based around Bill Evans, it is great to have this double bill with the guitarist’s own quartet.
It involves the outstanding talents of Arthur Lea (p), Mick Coady (b) and Jon Scott (d). as we move further into Kristian’s world of melody and colorful harmony in an adventurous playground of rhythm.
‘There is an engaging brightness to Borring’s sound”¦ He not only favours a fleet-fingered, hip swinging, soul-bop but draws as well from the subtle, gentle lyricism of guitarists such as John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny.’ (Selwyn Harris, Jazzwise)
‘Kristian has a hyper-cool and low-key approach to jazz guitar, but reprises it with warmth, confidence and a rhythmic hipness that’s thoroughly contemporary.’ (John Fordham, The Guardian)
