About
Premiered at this year’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival – commissioned to celebrate Tony Dudley-Evans’ long-running stint programming some of the festivals’ most adventurous music-making – acclaimed trumpeter / composer Laura Jurd paves the way for the spirited improvisations of UK free jazz icon, Paul Dunmall and his quartet – fuelled by a dream-team, brass quintet. Laura’s distinctive and tightly-knit material ranges from bouncing primordial melodies, to cerebral chorales to raucous Ellingtonian brass wails, opening the flood-gates to some of the UK’s most exciting improvisers with Paul Dunmall at the epicentre.
Described by London Jazz News as “genuinely thrilling” this is a must-see, one-off concert which is being recorded for a future album-release. Come and be part of this special live recording in what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music.
