Lekan Babalola’s new project , The Sacred Funk 4tet play jazz highlife music with an “old skool warmth”. Having met in Birmingham, the 4tet personnel represents different genres, cultures and generations! With twice Grammy Award winner Lekan Babalola on percussion, acclaimed clarinettist Kate Luxmoore, rising star Reuben Reynolds on guitar and emerging talent Josh Vadiveloo on Bass. They play ancient sacred music from Africa to Europe and explore the African Diaspora musical journey through highlife, mento and rumba, to name a few. All original arrangements are presented in a relaxed, uplifting and joyful presentation of beautiful acoustic music.
