Local & Live in Hackney proudly present London-based band Awalé Jant. A blend of Afro-Latin, funk and soul with a unique Senegalese twist. Exuberant Sabar percussion and Afro-Latin drums combine with intricate guitar patterns and horn lines with catchy bass riffs. Senegalese singer and songwriter Biram Seck and the compositions of French guitarist Thibaut Remy all create a spinning kaleidoscope of sounds. Awalé is on a mission to experience happiness together in these fractured times.
After a short hiatus, we are happy to resume our series of events at the Vortex Downstairs organised by Local & Live in Hackney, a small group of local musicians and artists. They organise gigs to support musicians, and their communities, across the rich traditions of Hackney and East London.
