London Jazz Orchestra Speake/Stroman Special
This April the LJO continues London’s longest jazz residency with a celebration of saxophonist Martin Speake and director Scott Stroman’s joint 60th birthdays. Speake and Stroman’s compositions are featured, including Stroman’s landmark Tradition suite — which includes a solo feature for every member of the band. This is a special one–don’t miss it!
The LJO has included such luminaries as Kenny Wheeler and Ian Carr in its ranks over the years, and this powerful incarnation included the innovative drummer Paul Clarvis, bassist Alec Dankworth, alto saxophonist Martin Speake, poised and velvet-toned British trumpeter Henry Lowther, and pianist Alcyona Mick.
