Doors 3pm, music 3.30pm
Trumpeter Henry Lowther and saxophonist Martin Speake, both outstanding soloists, are featured as composers, as the LJO closes its 30th anniversary season.
Up-and-coming arranger Charlie Rees has created new jazz orchestra settings of Speake’s original tunes, while Lowther’s beautifully-crafted pieces have been a feature of LJO gigs since he joined the band in the early 1990s. Later this month the band enters the studio to make a recording of Henry’s music.
