London Klezmer Quartet

We are delighted to welcome back the London Klezmer Quartet.These 4 extraordinary musicians delve into the celebratory and soulful Jewish music of eastern Europe, bringing you the subtleties of the original tradition, combined with a kick-the-chairs-over ability to party. Bringing fresh life to an almost-lost folk tradition, LKQ’s old and new melodies on violin, clarinet, accordion and double bass, and colourful stories about musicians’ lives and times take you on a journey from the Baltic to the Black Sea – and beyond. Their three CDs capture the spirit of eastern European life, including songs with themes ranging from food and love to conscription and exile.  LKQ has performed around the UK at a wide variety of venues and festivals, including Kings Place and the South Bank, and recently completed a fourth tour in Australia. The 2015 schedule includes festivals in Switzerland, Germany and the UK (Lichfield, Cambridge Big Weekend, KlezFest London), and a winter tour of their most recent album, London Klezmer Quartet Calling. Media appearances have included live sessions for BBC Radio 3 & 6, ABC Australia national and local radio, and Latvian national television.
