Recently deemed an ‘Exceptional Talent’ by Arts Council England, Meg Morley released two debut recordings of her original music in 2017.
Shortly after the solo piano EP, Through the Hours, she formed a trio with British bass-player Richard Sadler and Italian drummer Emiliano Caroselli and three months later recorded the album Can’t Get Started.
The diversity of the musicians’ individual backgrounds is one of the interesting elements that make up this unique group: the prodigiously self-taught Sadler playing in various styles and with musicians such as Sam Kelly (Cymande), Ray Davies (Kinks), -ISQ, John Crawford Quintet; the remarkably sensitive and virtuosic Caroselli strongly immersed in the ‘jazz’ tradition with influences from pop, rock and Cuba (after studying in Havana for three years); and the classically-trained Morley who regularly plays for dance and silent film and whose unique compositions are wide-ranging in style.
This group is all about interplay, and was hailed, in All About Jazz, as “one of the most exciting on the current UK scene”. Definitely a gig not be missed!
