He composes across variety of styles (jazz, classical, hip-hop, R&B, reggae, soul) and for a variety of media (orchestras, chamber ensembles, big band, dance, film). His potential and originality has been rewarded with nominations for the Bird Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Jazz on 3 Innovation Award for the BBC Jazz Awards, the inaugural prize for Contemporary Jazz Composition at the British Composer Awards and a prestigious Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers.
Eddie Prévost: Eddie Prévost plays with immense fire, grace and invention. Founder of the essential AMM, collaborator of the greatest improvisers internationally, since the 60’s he has kept a continuous contact with the scene and always manages to invent anew his contribution to “meta-music”.
“Prévost’s free drumming flows superbly making use of his formidable technique. It’s as though there has never been an Elvin Jones or Max Roach.” – Melody Maker
“Relentlessly innovative yet full of swing and fire.” – Morning Star
NO Moore: Moore‘s guitar playing combines elements syphoned off from the short history of the electric guitar, from the Blues to Free Improvisation, and combines them with a love of early electronic experimentalism, synthesis, and musique concrète. The result is an often surprising sound world for electric guitar, encompassing both a loose respect for its traditions and a commitment to what follows. With Eddie Prévost and John Edwards, he can be heard on the recent Matchless Recordings release ‘Darkened, yet shone’.
