An interaction between three compelling players, Quest Ensemble bring a unique take to the classical piano trio format, collaboratively creating original work that seamlessly blends improvisation with devised composition.
Intrinsically contemporary in approach, this ensemble inhabits a lyrical sound world somewhere in the gaps between chamber, jazz, folk and 20th Century classical music – with intriguing traces of Vaughn Williams, Steve Reich, and Esbjörn Svensson Trio. Versatile players individually, fusing their backgrounds of Western Classical, Indian Classical, Jazz and improvisation, the London-based trio are engaging audiences in diverse venues including the Vortex Jazz Club, Union Chapel, Wilton’s Music Hall, and Southbank Centre.
They are also regularly invited to collaborate on cross arts projects, creating site specific installations and sound commissions for dance and visual artists.
Support includes performances from Oud player Saied Silbak, Poet Rolf Dragstra with Sam Beste (Hejira) and other Quest Ensemble collaborations.
