RESOLUTE launch their debut album on Babel Label, supported by Arthur O’Hara Trio and Fini Bearman + Zosia Jagodzinska.
RESOLUTE’s music comprises a fiery mix of freely improvised music, grooves, ambient soundscapes, poetry, spoken word, noise, and contemporary jazz. The band is part of the Dissolute Society family and shares a similar commitment to the connection between improvised music and words.
The Arthur O’Hara trio is a new London based Jazz, Funk, Rock trio, drawing on influences such as Thundercat, Sons of Kemet and Janek Gwizdala, creates a new sound for this chordless lineup. The trio recently performed at the Love Supreme Roundhouse day festival being described as a “festival highlight”.
Singer and songwriter Fini Bearman brings a new, acoustic collection of intimate songs, performed with cellist Zosia Jagodzinska: Cellist and Singer-Songwriter
Fini’s music blurs the lines between songwriting and jazz, melding influences from contemporary crossover artists such as Esperanza Spalding and Becca Stevens to the songwriting canon of the 1970s: Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and David Bowie.
Artist Aurelie Freoua designed the sleeve for the album and the backdrop for the band photo (which was a mural painting created in Shoreditch in 2018). She performed live with Resolute in January this year. It is exciting that such an innovative artist, who is closely involved with improvisation in her artistic approach similar to the attitude of Resolute, joins with these guys.
