British-Austrian drummer Bernhard Schimpelsberger is a singular phenomenon in the
world of percussion today. A rhythmic visionary who has unified the percussion traditions of India and the West, Bernhard has collaborated and toured the globe with his band Circle of Sound, Anoushka Shankar, Nitin Sawhney, dance ace Akram Khan, Talvin Singh and Susheela Raman among others.
In Rhythm Diaries Bernhard takes his audience on a journey through melody and rhythm with a very personal collection of pieces. Since his childhood Bernhard has been on a continual quest to find new rhythms and sounds. Always desperate to capture and preserve his creative sparks he started to collect them in his personal Rhythm Diaries.
Over the years these rhythms have matured and become full grown compositions. They tell many stories. Stories of his extensive travels, of his encounters with many great musicians and how these influences have shaped his personal journey today. Bringing together an exquisite and unusual palette of percussion and melodic instruments Bernhard takes the audience into a world of percussion.
