A double bill of two contrasting trios both of which feature pianist Liam Noble and drummer Dave Wickins. Malcolm Earle Smith (trombone) joins Liam and Dave to perform with Three Way Stretch. While Oli Hayhurst will be making up Liam’s Trio.
And you never know, there may be a bit of overlap…
Three Way Stretch is an exciting meeting of artistic skills, featuring three of the UK’s finest improvisers, Malcolm Earle-Smith (trombone/vocals/effects pedals), Liam Noble (piano) and Dave Wickins (drums). Widely varied in repertoire, the trio draws from different eras of the jazz spectrum to produce a sound which is unique : a blend of incisive and expressive trombone, blues-tinged vocals, angular and edgy piano and a range of percussion textures which are both driving and lyrical. The result is a vibrant, groovy ensemble which contrasts solo contributions with a strong collective approach.
