About
The trio will be performing a soulful mix of jazz, Brazilian and blues standards made famous by Betty Carter, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, Jobim and more.
As vocalist for the Cinematic Orchestra for over 15 years and the go-to vocalist for acts such as Thundercat, Soweto Kinch and Chick Corea, Heidi Vogel has long been a critics choice for her extraordinary voice and velvet tone. She has appeared live on Jimmy Kimmel show, at The Royal Albert Hall, Montreaux Jazz festival and The Sydney opera house. She has performed and recorded with artists such as ESKA, Cleveland Watkiss and Bobby McFerrin to name a few. “She’s got an extraordinary voice…. an incredible range and such a texture…. keep an eye out for Heidi Vogel.” – Jamie Cullum BBC Radio 2.
For today’s show, Heidi teams up with award-winning pianist Bruno Heinen, professor of jazz piano and composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire – described by the Guardian as “eclectic, eccentric, unobtrusively erudite” and acclaimed guitarist James Kitchman; described by All About Jazz as possessing “an exalted lyricism and a sophisticated grasp of harmony”, he is recognised as one of the most distinctive and sought-after jazz guitarists of his generation.
