Formed only four years ago Vento Em Madeira have already become one of the foremost instrumental groups in Brazil today, with two nominations at the 25th Brazilian Music Awards 2014 – Best instrumental group and Best release.
Their sound is sunny, with elaborate countermelodies, full of heart and underpinned by rhythms that tell a story from the deepest side of Brazil. Melting together Samba, Afro Brazilian folklore, Jazz and Classical traditions to magical effect. Like many of the masters of Brazilian music they manage to keep a magical taste and aroma of Brazil all the time.
They have released two critically acclaimed albums. In 2011 “Vento Em Madeira” was voted the best album in a national critics poll and their second “Brasiliana” was once again among the 3 best albums in 2013.
The individual playing virtuosity and style of these musicians is undoubted and can be heard on many of the most famous recordings and tours from the cream of the Brazilian music scene for the last 20 years. Artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, Joyce, Moacir Santos, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, Hamilton Godoy (Zimbo Trio), Rosa Passos, Lenine, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Maria Rita, Dori Caymmi, Nana Caymmi, Filo Machado, Naná Vasconcelos, to name a few.
The special guest on this tour Monica Salmosa is one of Brazils most successful singers of recent years. NY Times critic Jon Pareles said of her that “Monica Salmaso has a gorgeous, quintessentially Brazilian voice: quietly lustrous and sustained, suf- fusing each liquid note with languid secrets”
After touring extensively, at Jazz Festivals and large venues, in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina the Group is finally taking off to Europe, UK and USA in au- tumn 2015.
