As we come out of ‘lockdown’ and even have some live gigs soon, we realise that we are in a sector of the arts that will be severely constrained for quite a while. They are not like visual artists, composers or writers who can happily sit at home. Nor are they like orchestra members who can happily reinterpret existing classics.
Musicians are used to being stimulated by hearing others (and not just locally), they want to play in order that they can test and develop their music with an audience. They won’t be able to play in larger groups.
These features, for quite some time maybe, will be severely affected. Nothing replaces what we have been used to properly.
A chance to brainstorm what might be happening and how we might adapt in order to cope.
