The ancient Greek word “chaos” means a chasm or void, and its opposite is “cosmos”, meaning the exquisite design of the world.
Where does improvisation sit in this spectrum? How do we get people to trust the musicians that improvising is indeed cosmic rather than chaotic?! Is it a matter of trust or something more fundamental?
