In a change to our original programme we’re delighted to present Vula Viel
Vula Viel means Good is Good in Dagaare, the language of the tribe in Upper West Ghana where Bex Burch lived and played music for 3 years and now, Bex’s new group with London’s finest; Jim Hart, Dan Nicholls, Tom Challenger, George Crowley, Dave Smith, Simon Roth, Dave De Rose and Stephen Burke.
The band, based around the Gyil, (Dagaare xylophone made of sacred lliga wood and buzzing gourd resonators) brings the powerful ancient Dagaare music to an original and exciting western sound.
This is not a generic, simplified African sound. Each note is ‘Good’ and when every note has that intention, the outcome is Great.
Ticket holders for the Roller Trio gig will be able to use their tickets for the rescheduled Roller Trio date, tbc. Roller Trio tickets will not be valid for tonight
